Looking at the tempting sausages, do you have a great appetite? In fact, there are university questions behind these sausages. Today, the Casing Supplier will take everyone to dig deeper into the story behind the sausages. As the saying goes, filling sausages, what is the shell of sausages? Maybe you would say "casing", but what is the casing?

Broadly speaking, casings can be divided into natural casings and artificial casings.

Natural casings mainly use the longest small intestine among the internal organs of animals. Nowadays, sheep’s small intestines are generally used, so they are also called sheep casings. Pig small intestines are called pig casings. In the past, cow intestines and horse intestines were used as casings. These natural casings are characterized by good air permeability, so after the product is properly dried and smoked, the smoked ingredients will adhere to the product to get the flavor that people like, and the natural casing can be eaten directly. Therefore, natural casings are also mostly used in the sausages and grilled sausages we usually eat.

Artificial casings can be divided into gas-permeable casings and non-gas-permeable casings. The former can be divided into edible and non-edible casings.

Edible casings are made of animal skins as raw materials, and their properties are similar to natural casings. We call them collagen casings, which are characterized by air permeability and edibility. Non-edible casings mainly include cellulose casings and cellophane. Cellulosic casings can be divided into cellulose casings and Fibrous Casings. This type of casing is characterized by air permeability but inedible. At present, there is also a non-edible casing made of plastic. This casing is also breathable and can be smoked, so it is named smokeable plastic casing.

Non-breathable casings are mainly plastic casings, which can be divided into polyvinylidene chloride casings and nylon casings according to different materials. This type of casing has many varieties and specifications, can be printed, is convenient to use, clean and beautiful, and is suitable for cooking products-this type of casing is not suitable for consumption.

In addition to being used as outer casings for Sausage Casings and enemas, casings have a very wide range of uses-they can be made into gut for making tennis racket string, bow string, instrument string and surgical suture, etc.
